Hoyt, University of Pennsylvania
One of the highlights of Hoyt's experience was his opportunity to intern at Caltech's Medical Center. This experience, coupled with the various frameworks and advice provided by his coach, helped to solidify his passion for science and made him even more determined to pursue a career in the field. His personal statement, in which he wrote about his closet, was one of his favorite memories. Though the concept of writing about his closet was his own idea, his coach was able to help him execute it in a more creative and compelling way than he had expected.
Most significantly, by working with his coach, Hoyt discovered more about himself and the path he wanted to take in his profession. "Coaching helped me reflect on everything, and without it, I would have been more adrift in terms of the specific disciplines I wanted to pursue," he said.
Hoyt attributes a significant portion of his application success to working with us. "My favorite memory from working with my coach was having to look back at my memories, and using those memories, as well as my own life experiences and background, I was able to get into my dream school and write a compelling story that embodied my personality, humor, and academic interests," he said.
Now that he is studying at the University of Pennsylvania, Hoyt is able to take his interests in business and medicine to new heights. He learned that seeking guidance and mentorship can be the key to success in the college application process, and he is grateful for the opportunity to work with us.
Hoyt joined us late in the process, as he had originally been unaware of how affordable coaching could be. He was initially concerned that he would require a significant amount of assistance with the editing process for his essays, specifically in regards to word count restrictions and utilizing the "right" words. However, after working with us, he found that the process was not as daunting as he had anticipated.
